Kings Sutton Youth Juniors 6 Bicester Town Colts 4

King's Sutton entertained Bicester for their first game of the new season. Last season saw two hard fought draws between these two sides so the players and supporters were expecting another close game, and so the first half showed.

Both teams saw plenty of the ball in the early exchanges with crisp passing by both teams. A team move from King's Sutton beginning with Harry Ellis winning his battle at the heart of the defence lead to the opening goal. Harry moved the ball into the midfield where Jack Marshall fed the ball to Stuart Howlett whose run and shot put the home side in front. Bicester responded positively closing down quickly leading to missed passes by the Sutton players and the Bicester forwards pounced and equalised with a well taken strike. Both teams pressed and it was not long before the next goal was scored. Another good pass let in Jack Marshall to put Sutton 2-1 in front. Again though, Bicester came back strongly with the front two causing the Sutton defence plenty of problems with their pace and it was not long before they equalised again with a well taken free kick. This time it was Bicester who sensed the game was there to be taken and another through ball was latched on to by the forwards who dually scored to give the visitors the lead. King's Sutton though didn't let their heads drop and some good play between the defence of Ollie Whitlow and Tarn Cannon fed the ball to Jake Peters, whose pace saw him pass his marker and in on goal to make the score 3-3 at half time.

With the home side having to reshuffle their set up to deal with the strong Bicester attackers the second half was again going to be a close affair. However the Sutton team raised their game and began to dominate in all areas of the pitch. Jack Marshall showed himself to be solid at the back in front of the ever reliable Adam Rimmer in goal and snuffed out all the Bicester attacks. Tarn Cannon, Harry Ellis and Thomas Young covered the back line admirably with Ollie Whitlow, Owen Tredwell, George Coombes and Jake Peters dominating the midfield. Josh Soul and Harlie Young and Callum O'Shea up front were a constant threat to the Bicester back line. Some good inter play between the Sutton midfield and front players saw the home side edge in front again with a fine goal from George Coombes. It was not long before the home side went further in front with Jack Marshall's second goal. A set piece led to Tarn Cannon crashing the ball home to make the score 6-3. Although Bicester got another goal before the end King's Sutton were worthy winners 6-4.

Both sets of players performed well in their first game and entertained the supporters with some lovely football.
