Remember...

We all have a duty to remember...
In a world of ongoing conflict please remember that our service men and women are commanded to go into harms way on your behalf. They may not always agree with the reasons for their deployment but have always done their duty, often paying dearly by having to suffer the lifelong consequences of terrible injuries. Many pay the ultimate sacrifice, leaving behind families torn apart in grief.

Yes, we all have a duty to remember......NOT just once a year but each and every day whilst your troops serve our country.

At the going down of the sun,  and in the morning,
                                                             We will remember them.

Read here about the ''Origin of the Red Poppy''

I saw a boy marching, with medals on his chest,
He marched alongside Soldiers, marching six abreast,
He knew it was Remembrance Day, he walked along with pride,
And did his best to keep in step with the soldiers by his side.

And when the march was over the boy looked rather tired.
A soldier said. "Whose medals son?" to which the boy replied,
"They belong to my Dad, but he didn't come back.
He died out in Afghanistan , up on a Helmand Track".

The boy looked rather sad, and a tear came to his eye,
But the soldier said, "Don't worry son, I'll tell you why,"
He said, "Your dad marched with us today, all the bloomin' way,
All us soldiers knew he was here, it's like that on Remembrance Day."

The boy looked rather puzzled, he didn't understand
But the soldier went on talking, and started to wave his hand,
"For this great land we live in, there's a price we have to pay,
To keep our Country free, and fly our flag today.

Yes we all love fun and merriment in this country where we live,
But the price was that some soldier, his precious life must give,
For you to go to school, my son, and worship God at will.
Somebody had to pay the price, so our soldiers paid the bill.

Your dad died for us my son, for all things good and true.
And I hope you can understand these words, that I have said to you".
The boy looked up at the soldier and after a little while,
His face changed expression, and he said with a beautiful smile,

"I know my Dad marched here today, this our Remembrance Day,
I know he did, I know he did, all the bloomin' way.''

To the Glory of God and in Grateful Memory of the Heroic men who Gave their Lives for King and Country in The Great Wars 1914 - 1918 and 1939 - 1945.      May they Rest in Peace.

Please remember ....There has only been one year (1968) since the Second World War when a British Service person hasn't been killed on active service.   Just one statistic amongst an avalanche of reasons why we should not forget those who serve on OUR behalf.

Since 1945
, the vast majority of the British People have known nothing but peace. But it's been a very different story for the men and women of our armed forces. Time and again, they have been in the front line defending Britain's interests. In Brunei, Borneo, Indonesia, Malaya, the Falklands and the Gulf. More recently, they have played a central peace keeping role in the Balkans, Cambodia, Sierra Leone, Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere. Closer to home, many thousands have been involved during the thirty year long campaign in Northern Ireland.

But please remember our forces should NOT be dependent on Charity.....By right they should be looked after by your government after they have served all of us or are still in harms way!  Be aware that for every soldier, sailor, airman or woman.....there is a family waiting in the wings, wondering if their loved ones will be allowed to come home safely.

Ask your MP what he is personnally doing to ''Honour the Covenant'' which should exist between Government and the Forces.  Such a Covenent  means giving them the resources to fight effectively as well as looking after them following their service to our country.

Regardless of political persuasion or your personal conviction as to whether or not we should be involved in any of the current conflicts ALL should support the men and women sent out on our behalf.
